All you need to know about our enrolment scheme, and enrolling your child at Waihao Downs School.

Waihao Downs Enrolment Scheme

Waihao Downs School has an enrolment scheme to manage our roll numbers and avoid overcrowding. You can request our enrolment zone map from the school office.
If you live within our zone, your child is welcome to enrol at Waihao Downs School at any time. If you live outside the zone, your child will only be able to enrol if there are spaces available. In Term 3 each year, the number of out of zone enrolments are advertised. If enrolment requests for out of zone students exceeds the number of places, a ballot is held.

If you would like to visit our school and/or discuss the enrolment of your child, please contact the school on 03 689 2734 or email office@waihaodowns.school.nz

Preschool visits

This is to introduce your child to the school. They will meet the Junior Room class teacher and be introduced to the other children. On average this is 3 to 5 full or half days before your child turns five.
New entrants may enrol before their fifth birthday, but cannot legally attend school before that date.

Upon enrolment a parent receives an enrolment pack which includes the following:
